No.Cal verses So.Cal- The countdown is on

The countdown has begun until the first match of the California Cup commences. The Suns are extremely pumped and ready now that the seasons first win is out of the way. The guantlet is out to its neighbors down south and with an extra weekend to prepare both sides should be ready to do battle. "This could become the biggest rivalry in the league" A win over Union S.C. would give us a 6 point edge in the standings and really send shockwaves to the Union and truly give them a reason to be blue. Also in the news is the signing of Dominic Oduro to the roster. The forward played several minutes on Saturday and ownership was impressed with his speed and fitness. "He was very aggressive attacking in the box and we see great upside potential in him." Oduro replaces Dave Van den bergh on the roster.

Suns sleigh the Saints in BSL opener

GOLD COAST 2
GATEWAY UNITED 1

Coming into the match the Gold Coast staff knew it was going to be a tough task to pull out a victory and grab 3 points to start the season. Thanks to a gritty performance that is just what happened when defense rang supreme and held down the might Gateway United players to just 1 offensive point. When Alonso grabbed an early 1-0 lead for our club it was with much delight. You always want to take the early lead if you can and put pressure on your opponent. The game winner of the match was Jack Jewsbury's goal. His strike was just the cushion that was needed to run away with an amazing win and silent our critics atleast for now.

Suns pick up Joe Cannon as a backup

JOE CANNON

Fans of Gold Coast celebrated this afternoon with the news that All Star Goal Keeper Joe Cannon has agreed to play for the club in 2010. Right now it will be as a backup to Pat Onstad. Once the club gets going it should be a season long battle between these two guys for the starting job. We plan on starting Pat Onstad for the first game against Gateway United.

Do the Suns have what it takes to win its first game?

The first game of the BSL season is a few weeks away and management is still trying to figure out if the moves that were made will be enough to challenge for a championship. This league looks to be very strong and winning will not be easy. The Suns ownership is just looking to get off on the right foot and earn some respect. The first match will be a stiff test. Gold Coast F.C. will go up against Gateway United and is that an intimidating bunch over there in middle America. A win against them could be considered an upset. We are the underdogs. While no one has come out and said such a thing the odds makers at Vegas have their opinions. Let's beat Gateway and leave them feeling the burn.

Onstad will be Suns first GK

The Suns picked up the clubs first Goal Keeper. The veteran Pat Onstad. He might be up there in the years, but he is one of the best in the MLS. The club feels very confident that Onstad can get several clean sheets in the season. Also drafted was Mike Magee. The youngster had a very good season for the Galaxy and hopefully will further his development in 2010.

Can Gold Coast find wealth in latest picks?

LENHART & MCCARTY
This duo probably don't write music, but Gold Coast Football Club is hoping they can play on the pitch. Lenhart is always full of energy and is as passionate as they come. He is definitly a joy to watch at the very least. McCarty might surprise the rest of the BSL with his ability to be involved in the run of play.

The Suns are beginning to rise

Gold Coast is starting to come together. The club drafted two more players. A leader in Kyle Beckerman and a veteran in Ante Razov. The club is very happy with both and look forward to seeing them in action. Gold Coast also got tagged with a nickname from its California Cup rival and its not even a negative one. The neighbors of the Pacific have suggested the alias "the Suns" from a remark made from a previous draft selection.

3rd round pick goes according to plan

DAVE VAN DEN BERGH
Gold Coast Football Club is very excited to draft Dave Van den Bergh as its 3rd player. The former New York player now Dallas player should help score both goals and assists and is believed to be a real find this far into the draft.
