Gold Coast F.C. traded Charlie Davies to Cumberland today for the rights to the clubs 6th round draft pick. "The move is an attempt to rebuild through the draft." said a Suns spokesperson. After recent events, the strategy appears to be changing and the Suns intend to come into 2015 with a fresh crop of new players.
Ethan Finlay is being rewarded for a stellar 2014 season. After being signed by the Suns in May, he helped provide a spark that the club needed when the offense was struggling. Finlay had 11 goals and 7 assists. "Finlay is a direct player who is not afraid to take his opportunities when they come up. It's a pleasure to have him locked up for another season." said a Suns spokesperson.
Yesterday's news that Frank Lampard will be staying in England until the end of the Premier League season was a major blow to the Suns. "The club invested money and intended on building a team around Frank and this decision does not sit well." No decision has been announced on whether the Suns will still be keeping Lampard as a DP in 2015 or if that spot will be filled by a different player. The other concern is how much will he have left in the tank if and when he does arrive in July. At his age the lack of break will no doubt play a role in his production in 2015.
